Out with the old and in with the new…

Remember that old saying “Out with the old and in with the new”? Well, there’s no better time than the start of a New Year to do so. Yes, it’s true that some old things can be kept, but there are just somethings that must be done away with. Amp up your style with these 3 fashion and beauty updates that shouldn’t be avoided.

1. Expired Undergarments

Contrary to popular belief, undergarments DO NOT last forever. Now, we all have at least one bra, night gown, granny panty , and pair of holey comfy socks that’s been broken in and just fits like a charm. Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, BUT it’s time to let them go. Any undergarments that are faded and dated need to make the transition from your dresser drawers to the trash. Once complete, take a trip to your favorite lingerie store and update those old undergarments with cute brand new ones.

2. Expired Makeup

Say it isn’t so?! I’m afraid that it is so, my friend. You’ve got to toss that tube of lip gloss that you’ve been holding onto for ages. Now this one is a biggie because expired cosmetics can cause skin irritations and eye infections. Here’s a helpful chart that you can use as a guide.

After sorting through your cosmetics, make sure you jot down the product information so that you can repurchase the brands, shades, and tones that you need.

BONUS TIP: For all you MAC Cosmetic lovers out there… Did you know that you can recycle your old cosmetic containers in exchange for a FREE Lipstick of your choice? You can do this through MAC’s “Back to M*A*C Program“.

3. Expired Mendables

It’s not uncommon to have clothing items that have a hole, lost button, or loose hem. Now’s the time to break out the old needle and thread and fix these pieces. Mending them will make them look and feel like new.

Taking advantage of these 3 Fashion & Beauty updates are sure to give your style a boost for 2014. Yves St. Laurent said it best that “Fashions fade, style is eternal”. So, let your eternal style shine in the New Year.

Independently Yours,
